The Dirty Picture actor speaks about winning the National Award for the role of a sex siren

Vidya Balan, who was working overtime, promoting her movie Kahaani, was quite overwhelmed when she received the award for the Best Actress at the 59th National Awards, for her portrayal of Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture. Vidya says that it is definitely a dream-come-true for her and the victory hasn’t sunk in yet. “The film’s success has opened a lot of opportunities, especially in the kind of roles for female actors. It is very nice to see that the line between so called meaningful cinema and commercial has blurred,” she said.

And even before the actor recovers from this victory, her strong performance in Kahaani has already started receiving rave reviews from critics and the audience. Looks like another award is in the making! Congratulations, Ms Balan.
