On the evergreen actor’s first death anniversary, his life-size statue was unveiled by his close friend and actor Waheeda Rehman
Dev Anand passed away last year on December 3. And on his first death anniversary this year, the veteran Waheeda Rehman unveiled a brass statue of her late legendary actor-friend at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade, as part of UTV Stars’ Walk of the Stars. “I made my acting debut with Dev saab and did six films with him. He was extremely passionate about his work and we shared a wonderful working relationship. While he will always be remembered for his wonderful movies, a tribute such as this will immortalise Dev saab forever. And I am more than happy to have the privilege of unveiling his statue,” a tearful Rehman said. The evergreen hero’s son Suneil Anand too was present at the ceremony, and he said, “I am touched that my legendary father is being honoured.”
UTV Stars’ Walk of the Stars encompasses renowned celebrities’ handprints on a customized slab and specially designed brass statues of iconic legendary actors. It was launched earlier this year, and the Kapoor khandaan was felicitated and brass statues of the great showman Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor were installed.
