In a recent chat with BollywoodLife, the Vicky Donor director told how his real life experiences helped him while making his next on couples’ eloping
Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor could have easily gone wrong. The Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam starrer was more difficult to make than his critically acclaimed serious drama Madras Café, maintains Shoojit.“The movie (Vicky Donor) was about sperm donation.
Had the subject not been handled carefully, it would have gone horribly wrong. I could have easily become laughing stock of the industry, had it not worked out. In fact, I would say that directing Vicky Donor was more difficult than making Madras Café,” confessed the director when we met him recently at his suburban Mumbai office.
And now Sircar is excited about his next production Running Shaadi.com which will be directed by first time filmmaker Amit Roy. The movie will star Amit Sadh of Kai Po Che! fame and Taapsee Pannu.
The story revolves around couples who are desperate to elope to tie the knot against the wishes of their parents. Sircar maintains that he has drawn many lessons from real life to help make this movie “ I have helped so many friends elope while I was staying in Delhi. One friend eloped with his girlfriend to Mumbai, the other one eloped to Kolkata. In fact one friend was hiding in my own terrace for three days. So he was there in my barsati. You won’t believe even the casting director of my film also eloped. Thankfully all those experiences helped me to understand the core subject of the film as well as to portray it realistically,’ said Shoojit.
We are certainly looking forward to watch this hatke production, what about you BL peeps?
