Why did Madhuri Dixit-Nene stay away from Bollywood films for almost 5 years?

After Aaja Nachle bombed at the box office, the dhak-dhak gal stayed away from silver screen, however she followed up this flop with hit appearances on small screen as the dance reality show judge

Madhuri Dixit-Nene will be seen on the big screen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Dedh Ishqiya that also features Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Huma Qureshi. After 2007 film Aaja Nachle, Madhuri makes a comeback on 70mm after almost six years and she chose and unconventional sequel to a hit film Dedh Ishqiya. While many wonder if it was Aaja Nachleis fate at the box office that prompted Mads to stay away from silverscreen. Here’s why Madhursi did not pick a film in all these years. In an interview Madhuri said, “I didn’t wait for seven years for the script. I have my reasons. I was not even living here before. I was staying abroad so to come here and work and go back was getting very tedious. That was one of the reasons I didn’t do anything, but when I decided to come to India and settle here, that time I decided to read scripts and Dedh Ishqiya was offered. I was confident that Vishal and Abhishek team makes good films and I would love to be part of it.”

Well, now this Ms Dixit-Nene is very much in B-town and in the city she will opt for more appearances on the big screen too. We overheard Mads wishlist – she wants to work with a Khan. And no its not Shahrukh Khan or then the Dhoom:3 star Aamir Khan, it is the very dabangg Jai Ho actor Salman Khan!
