Why didn’t Bappi Lahiri sing for Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala?

The Housefull director had requested Bappi da to recreate magic by singing his original compositions – Taaki oh taaki and Naino mein sapna in his remake, but the disco king couldn’t fulfill the filmmaker’s wish. Here’s why…

Like all Bappi Lahiri fans, we too couldn’t stop speculating about the composer’s decision of not singing his own chartbuster tracks in the Ajay Devgn starrer Himmatwala, considering that he revisited his original compositions – Yaad aa raha hai tera pyaar and I am a disco dancer in Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3. Then why not Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala, Bappi da?

The disco king who turned 60 yesterday told us the real reason, “Taaki oh taaki and Naino mein sapna are two of my favourite super hit compositions, also because they are sung by my favourite singer, Kishore Kumar. I can’t even think of singing Kishore da’s songs because he has immortalised all his songs in his own unique style. I’m too small a singer to even attempt his songs.” So Sajid has roped in Amit Kumar to recreate his father’s chartbuster track Naino mein sapna and Mika Singh for Taaki oh taaki.

A close associate of the director says, “Sajid is very particular about the music of his films. He managed to get Shabbir Kumar for the song I don’t know what to do in Housefull. And now for Naino mein sapna, he has managed to convince Amit Kumar.” Must say, Sajid’s quite the himmatwala for getting the right people on board for his films.
