The Department actor is feeling let down because she has been kept away from her film’s promotional activities
Anjana Sukhani’s acting career is not exactly going places, especially as far as Bollywood is concerned. She has been doing a lot of regional films, but that isn’t particularly helping her bag more Hindi films. Just when she thought that she has joined the big league after bagging Ram Gopal Varma’s latest venture, Department, her director let her down.
If you have been keeping a watch on the promos of Department, you must have figured out that the film’s leading ladies, Anjana Sukhani, Lakshmi Manchu and Madhu Shalini are nowhere to be seen. Surprisingly, Nathalia Kaur the item girl has been hogging all the limelight. RGV even organised an elaborate press conference just to introduce his new muse.
This biased treatment has upset Anjana who is still coming to terms with the fact that she is nowhere on Department’s publicity material. In a recent interview she said, “Honestly, yes, I am upset. I feel it is a little unfair. Actors are equally involved in the making of a film. If it is a failure, the actor is also considered a flop, and when a film is a hit, everybody is credited for the success. I am not saying that he is only promoting the item song. I say that every actor should get an equal share of being part of the publicity and promotion because they form an integral part of the film.”
Ramu’s logic is that when he made Company, Manisha Koirala and Antara Mali were never a part of the promotions; it was only the item song ‘Khallas’ picturised on Eesha Koppikar that was promoted. Wethinks RGV is being unfair towards his leading ladies by giving them the royal ignore. Do you agree?
