The Turbanator of Indian cricket will be seen on the big screen soon, but not in a Bollywood movie. He will start off his acting career with a Punjabi production instead
Harbhajan Singh can make world class batsmen dance to the tunes of his unpredictable doosra, but now the talented off-spinner himself is all set to shake a leg on the silver screen. A little birdie tells us that the Bhajji will make his debut with an upcoming Punjabi film which will be produced by Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi’s Grazing Goat Pictures. The movie will be shot in Chandigarh.
Harbhajan has done many commercials in his career, so he’s not new to the business of acting. But for the first time ever, Singh will not be playing himself. We hear that the movie is not titled so far but it will feature veteran actor Om Puri as well. Bhajji’s interest in the movie business is amply evident from the fact that he owns a production house (BM Media) which was registered recently.
But this bit of news brings us to our key question: Harbhajan could have easily stepped into a Bollywood flick, given his proximity to B-town stars and producers. Why then is the actor starting his acting career with a Punjabi flick? Insiders tell us that Harbhajan doesn’t want to rush into things very fast. In fact, he wants to test the waters with a Punjabi film first before he turns his gaze to the big bad world of Bollywood. Smart move indeed, isn’t it?
