The Hero actor has been seen in a few films outside Bollywood and seems to enjoying the new found acclaim
Just when we had begun to think that Jackie Shroff’s acting career was almost over, he proved us wrong. We saw our man featured in a full page advertisement of a movie called Cover Story, in a leading daily. We went for the film’s trailer launch to catch up with him and find out what he has been up to. Jaggu dada, as he is fondly known, seemed very upbeat about playing the solo hero in a film after ages. When we asked him about not being seen around for a while, he said, “I have been spending time with myself. I took some time off for farming and also my regional films kept me occupied.”
He explained, “All throughout my career people didn’t have any good thing to write home about me, but my Tamil film Aaranya Kaandam has won me bouquets from all quarters. It has been an overwhelming experience.” We also asked him the reason for the debacle of his recent Marathi film, Hrudaynath. He said, “That film was sabotaged by the media. It made money for those who had invested in it. But a section of the media killed it.” Mr Shroff, we are sorry to hear about that, and we hope you keep on supporting good cinema.
Dear Bollywoodlifer, do you think Jackie Shroff should shift focus to regional cinema?
