Why should Sanjay Dutt be spared, asks Nana Patekar

While the who’s who of B-town is supporting Sanju Baba, here is one actor who feels Dutt doesn’t deserve mercy

While Bollywood is supporting Sanjay Dutt in full force, with many even talking about granting the star mercy, there is one man who is neither following suit nor is afraid of speaking his mind.

Nana Patekar, who is known for calling a spade a spade, said in no uncertain terms that he is clearly not among those people who want mercy for Sanjay Dutt. In a recent interview, when Nana was asked by the media what he feels about Dutt’s jail sentence, the actor said, “Sanjay Dutt was sentenced by the court and he needs to bear that. He definitely needs to bear it. Why should he be spared? This is my simple question.” He further went on to elaborate that the star shouldn’t get any preferential treatment, and that he won’t work with Sanjay Dutt on project. “I can’t do anything about it. What I can do is not work with him again, and I won’t see his movies. This is the punishment I will give him from my side. It doesn’t matter whether it makes a difference to him or not,” said Nana.

Well, this is rather brazen remark by Nana. But it seems the duo doesn’t really share a great camaraderie, and in fact, they haven’t worked together in any movie. Whatever the case, what’s clear is the fact that Nana isn’t bothered by what the entire Bollywood says or thinks; he will continue speaking his mind!

It is exactly correct. If any person confirmed as a accused he should deserve the punishment whoever he may be and however money involved by putting him behind bar. It is of course contempt of court if any anybody comments on courts verdict

I do agree with Nana Patekar. I also understand when all those Bollywood actors visited Sanjay, who knows what they told him. Just because they visited him, can’t say if they went in there to support him or told him to go through the punishment. There are others like Jaya Prada,Jaya Bachchan,Hrithik,Priyanka,Bipasha who were open to media and on twitter of Sanjay’s “suffering” and all of that. Even Vidya said something on the same lines, but she noted a good point that they are reacting because of their emotions. Most of the actors/actress know the law is the law, but they let their emotions of whatever experience of working with Sanjay they had, cloud their judgments. They say the law is the law, but they have some emotional attachment to him that they can’t say what Nana Patekar said. They are afraid and loyal when they know their friend and colleague have abused the law and should face due punishment. Bollywood is anyways known for their camaraderie that loyalty clouds their view from knowing what is right and wrong.

What are you doing with Nepal and Bangladesh ? Mithun Chakraborty should go to jail for rest of his life. Nana think
about this. First all the indian widows were in Nepal now the
transfer to bangladesh. We understand every thing what you are
