Chetan Bhagat claims that Arjun Kapoor is the best choice for Krish’s role in the film. Read on to know why…
It is not a lesser known fact that Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States has been based on his own life, however, very few know of the tumultuous relationship he has with his father. The author of six bestselling novels told to a national daily recently, “I felt he was not fair to my mother. She did a lot for him, the family, the in-laws, but she never got her due and it was a life lived just like a lot of Indian women who do that. When I was very young, I didn’t realise it but by the time I was a teenager, I started realising and resented it.” Chetan said he and his family had to go through hard times to deal with this issue but writing 2 States helped him forgive his father.
Chetan felt that the Gunday actor is the right choice to play this role as even he has dealt with the same issues with his father Boney Kapoor and hence would be able to relate with the emotion. Chetan in his interview said, “I asked him what was the most challenging part of doing the film and he told me how he relates to those emotions of pain in the relationship between him and his father, where the relationship is very close and yet there are unmet expectations from both sides.”
Arjun has always been very vocal of his parents troubled relationship, however now things are better and he shares a healthy rapport with his director/producer dad.
Well, we can tell you if Arjun was the apt choice for 2 States only after we watch the film this weekend. Bollywoodlifers, you tell us if the Gunday actor looks convincing as Krish Malhotra.
