The actor was conspicuous by her absence at the Vinod Chopra Retrospective red carpet
We expected to see one of Bollywood’s iconic lead pairs of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Anil Kapoor back together, posing for shutterbugs and giving bites to the media about their classic film Parinda, at the Vinod Chopra Retrospective held in Mumbai last night. Instead, Anil was seen posing with Manisha Koirala, his 1942: A Love Story co-star. Why did Madhuri let Manisha hog the limelight, which could’ve been hers? After all, Manisha is as much on the comeback trail in Bollywood as Madhuri. While Madhuri maintained on her Facebook page that she is out of the country for a few days, we wonder if it’s the truth. Anil and Maddy had had problems when she’d refused to act as Sonam Kapoor’s mom in Anil’s production (a remake of Freaky Friday). But a newspaper suggested that they have buried the hatchet now and that she will indeed walk the red carpet at the event.
So why didn’t Madhuri attend the VC film fest? Mads and Anil have delivered several hits in the 1980s and ’90s and have been loved as an onscreen couple. We sure don’t like seeing them not on talking terms with each other! Do you? Or is it that the already very American Madhuri didn’t want to be pictured with Hollywood’s new find Anil? You tell us!
