Will Aditya Chopra give up filmmaking?

Producer-director Anurag Kashyap thinks so, because producing films is a full time job

Anurag Kashyap is busy with the promotional activities of his Prithviraj-Rani Mukerji starrer, Aiyyaa. Though he hasn’t directed this campy romcom, Kashyap is backing it. During one of the interviews he did for promotions, he said something that surprised us. “Aditya Chopra had to give up filmmaking because he had to build YRF. Adi has made just three films in all these years. I will die if I had to do something like this. All I wish to do is make films.” What the Dev.D director seems to have missed is the fact that Chopra Jr has as much say in all the films that he produces as the directors do.

Anybody who has made a film for Yash Raj Films will vouch for this. We have been told that every last detail – even the fonts used on the publicity material – is approved by Adi. It is another matter that the obsessively-media-shy filmmaker doesn’t discuss his contributions in public. When we recently spoke to Ek Tha Tiger director Kabir Khan, he told us how involved the Chopra scion was in the making of his film too. So technically speaking, Mr Kashyap, Adi has actually made 40 films, not just three, as you would like us to believe.

You’re welcome, thank you for the ciomlpments! A lot of the drawings were done in Office for Mac 2004 and exported to PDF (graphs in Excel, illustrations in Word). The 3D figures were done using Blender and I’m not sure if I could face doing those again. The Table of Contents are automatically generated from the thesis.tex and Chapter files.
