The director’s next film Mehrunissa will take off only if Big B agrees to do it but the latter is yet to make up his mind
Some filmmakers in Bollywood are very particular about casting the perfect actor and Sudhir Mishra is one of them. He usually doesn’t cast stars who are hard to get and works with actors he is comfortable with. His ambitious forthcoming film, Mehrunissa might change the trend as he wants Amitabh Bachchan to play an important part in it. The film is said to be one of the most expensive films to be made in Bollywood and we hear that it will most probably be produced by UTV. Apart from Sr B’s approval, everything else is in place. The film is supposed to be a Hindu-Muslim love story where Rishi Kapoor plays a Hindu lawyer while the Big B plays a Muslim commissioner of police. If Mishra does get lucky, Amitabh and Rishi will be seen sharing screen space after two decades. Sr B has already finished his commitment for Kaun Banega Crorepati 5 but presently he is simply taking time off from work and basking in the glory of becoming a grandpaa all over again. The challenge for the makers of Mehrunissa is that they have decided to shoot the film in Lucknow and Bhopal, that too in spring, or not at all. We also heard that Nikhil Advani, who has written the script of the film has confirmed that they will not make the film if Amitabh does not come on board. So it’s all on the senior Bachchan now – will he or won’t he? Watch this space to find out!
