This week the sequel of Bhoothnath will the theatres. Though it’s a solo release and stars the Shehenshah of Bollywood, the box office collection of Bhoothnath Returns may get affected coz of the Lok Sabha elections
Nitesh Tiwari’s horror comedy Bhoothnath Returns starring Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Parth Bhalerao will release this Friday. While the prequel wasn’t a huge success at the box office, the sequel looks promising as it’s about elections. So far Bhoothnath Returns has created great buzz thanks to good music and not to forget the special Yo Yo Honey Singh number. Also, Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor are playing cameos in this film and this has only raised the curiosity level amongst the masses. But the question is – will Bhoothnath Returns get the cash registers jingling? Unlike the prequel, will this one turn out to be a blockbuster? Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi says, “Bhootnath Returns looks like a promising film for multiple reasons – It has a director whose last film was a great entertainer, a superstar who is probably the biggest icon of Hindi cinema, the coming together of production houses that have given the audience some very entertaining films and to the cherry on the top – hit & popular music!”
While Big B’s film looks to fare well at the box office, there is a possibility that the ongoing Lok Sabha elections could play a spoilsport for Nitest Tiwari’s directorial venture. Or it could be the other way round coz Bhoothnath Returns also deals with elections and is sort of a satire on the political system. Since the election fever has gripped the country maybe the film’s theme would work in its favour, hai na?
“Sure, the film’s release period coincides bang with the opening days of the elections, but I am certain – a good film always finds its audience and that should be the case with Bhootnath Returns too!” points out Rathi. Well, we kind of agree with him and you?
Ace- astro-numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi also believes that Bhoothnath Returns will manage to pull in crowd to the theatres. He says, “As per the numerological meaning derived, it seems the film will appeal to its target audience (mainly children) who like watching light hearted, clean, fun entertainers with a social message”
Well, when Amitabh Bachchan is onscreen wethinks nothing else matters to the audience. Such is his star power, no? In that case, the makers don’t have to worry much about Bhoothnath Returns fate at the BO, right Bollywoodlifers?
