Funny man Vir Das has been roped in by National award winning director, Shivaji Patil for his upcoming film based on the 1984 Delhi riots. We had informed you before, that Soha Ali Khan was going to play the Sikh wife in this real life story, which is based on the 24 hours post the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Set during the 1984 riots, the movie would see the stand-up comedian-turned-actor playing Soha’s husband. Talking about the story to a leading daily, Soha had informed, “It’s a very powerful story about the riots and what happened in the 24 hours post the assassination.” By the looks of it, the movie seems to be a very serious one.

The movie is tentatively titled October 31, the day of Indira Gandhi’s assassination. Vir Das has played a funny Sikh in Santa Banta before but will he be able to pull off a serious role as this one? Tell us what you think BollywoodLifers.
