Will Jaya Bachchan give Sony TV a face-lift with her new show?

The Bachchans are on a roll and going all out to make a grand entry on television

Earlier it was just Amitabh Bachchan doing a fiction show for Sony, but Jaya Bachchan has joined the bandwagon to play the lead character in a daily soap for the same channel.

Apparently, Mrs Bachchan will be making her debut on television as the protagonist in a daily soap. The show, titled Vasundhara is apparently inspired by a Gujarati novel -Yog Viyog by Kaajal Oza Vaidya. The show revolves around the story of a woman, who when abandoned by husband, decides to take control of the house and her kids as the head of the house. A tale of relationships and the complications faced by a single parent makes the crux of the story.

To be directed by Pankaj Parashar- the man behind the famous detective show of the 1980’s Karamchand and films like Chaalbaaz and Jalwa; the show is being co-produced by Jaya Bachchan and Endemol India. It would indeed be a novelty to see Jaya Bachchan on a regular basis on the small screen. There is no doubt that the actor can easily pull off a complex role like this, but we wonder will she be able to draw the audience?

In addition to that, the story seems very similar to several daily soaps we’ve already seen and are still continuing to do so, then why is the veteran actor choosing such a done to death story? Nonetheless, we hope the actor has calculated her risks before taking the big leap. We wouldn’t want her to regret, no?

We wish the Bachchans all the luck for their new shows!
