Buzz is that Nargis Fakhri’s role of a journalist in her upcoming film is inspired by writer and journalist Anita Pratap
Numerous B-town actresses have played journalists in the recent times and now it is Nargis Fakhri, who will play an international reporter in Madras Café. We hear that her role as a journalist is based on the real-life Indian scribe Anita Pratap.
Anita Pratap was the first journalist to interview the slain LTTE chief Prabhakaran. The political thriller is directed by Shoojit Sircar and is based on LTTE activities. A little birdie revealed that John has shown his film to close friends in the industry and everyone’s abuzz about Nargis’ character being inspired by Anita. Wondering why? Well, the film shows Nargis interviewing Anna (Ajay Ratnam). Anna is the head of the rebel terrorist group in the movie. Though Nargis has denied following any journalist for her role, these little similarities can’t be ignored!
As we continue to be curious if Nargis will do justice to her journalist role, let’s take a look at other B-town’s beauties who have etched their journalist characters in our minds… Konkona Sen Sharma played a celeb journo in Page 3 while Preity Zinta was seen as a hardcore reporter in Lakshya. And of course, we can’t forget Rani Mukerji’s performance as a TV journalist in No One Killed Jessica. With so many actresses who’ve already impressed us, Nargis sure has a lot to live up to!
Even if we ignore the past journalist performances, Nargis as a journalist is up against Kareena Kapoor essaying the role of a journalist in Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha, Amrita Rao as a journo in Anil Sharma’s next and Neha Dhupia portraying a scribe in Rensil D’Silva’s next. We hope the Rockstar girl can get her act right this time; else the critics are going to have a field day…
