Will Naseeruddin Shah and Amitabh Bachchan come together on the big screen?

Buzz suggests that the two actors have been approached by the Hate Story director Vivek Agnihotri for his forthcoming multi-starrer

After Hate Story, Vivek Agnihotri has decided to make a movie with a more than just a handful of actors. The movie, we hear, is called Twelve. It’s a remake of Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men (1957).

Talking about it Vivek says, “It’s a brilliant story, the action of which takes place within the confines of a single room. It’s a classic play and every time it’s been made into a film, it has won laurels.” And apart from having a fantastic plot, the movie also marks the return of Ashutosh Gowarikar, who was last seen in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na (1993), in front of the camera, as an actor.

But apart from Ashutosh, the director has approached Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Anu Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah. Whoa! While the long list of actors does take our breath away, the fact that Amitabh and Naseer might just come together for this one is what makes us talk about it.

And do you know why? Amitabh has never been on Naseer’s favourite list. And we keep hearing assorted buzz about the latter frowning upon the choices made by Big B and the hype Amitabh creates. “I get offered the roles Mr. Bachchan turns down and considering the roles he accepts, you can imagine the stuff he turns down,” Shah once said in an interview. Ahem ahem. Wonder what Naseer has to say this time around….

Now thanks to all the friction, guess even the director has decided to wait a li’l after making the initial offer to the stalwarts. “I’m planning to make another script. I’ll start Twelve some time at the end of this year,” he says.

All we can say at this juncture is that we hope Amitabh and Naseer befriend each other and surprise us by coming together for this movie. Fingers crossed!
