The Barfi! actor has been invited by a number of NGOs to highlight the plight of autistic children
With director Anurag Basu’s Barfi!, Priyanka Chopra got an unusual opportunity to prove her mettle as an actor. Doing a film like that is considered a huge risk by mainstream Bollywood standards, but Priyanka and Ranbir Kapoor played their parts so well that Barfi! is being sent to the Oscars as the official nomination for Foreign Language Film from India. Plagiarism allegations apart, the film has won unanimous approval for its acting. Priyanka’s performance as Jhilmil, the autistic girl, particularly stood out and won her rave reviews.
World Autism Awareness Day is just around the corner and we heard that several NGOs have invited Piggy Chops to celebrate the occasion with them. News is that Priyanka, though eager to be a part of the celebrations, has responded to all those invites by requesting the organisations to come together for a combined event. We wonder if she will eventually make it to whatever is arranged, but it would be great if she actually does. Aamir Khan post Taare Zameen Par and Shahrukh Khan post My Name Is Khan did their bit for building awareness about differently abled youngsters. Wethinks it is now Priyanka’s turn to do her bit!
