The talented actor has way too much on his acting plate at the moment, wethinks. From Bade Acche Lagte Hain to Humshakals, Ram Kapoor is juggling with too many roles and pretty soon he may have to choose between the small and the big screen
Ram Kapoor – who is often called the Shahrukh Khan of the television world – has wooed audiences of the small and the big screen with his acting prowess. Be it his TV soap Bade Acche Lagte Hain or films like Udaan and Mere Dad Ki Maruti, Ram has effortlessly pulled off each of his roles, leaving behind memories of a noteworthy character each time. But with new film offers coming his way every other day – or so it seems – it looks as if the portly actor will soon have a tough time balancing both mediums.
Ever since Bade Acche took a time leap, Ram is hardly ever seen in the show, so much so that dialogue has been written in for his onscreen wife Priya Kapoor to complain about his absence. One reason why this serial hit the right chords with the audience was ‘coz of the chemistry between Ram and Sakshi Tanwar. But his role no longer seems to be prominent, no matter that the makers have promised that he will take over more responsibility for home and children since his TV wife is in a coma – did Sakshi need a holiday, we wonder! With a seven-year leap that started this week, will Ram vanish after a short stint of childcare, leaving Priya to wake up, recover and take over once more? Now that the large actor has started shooting for his new Sajid Khan film Humshakals in a London schedule, wethinks fans will have to get used to seeing more Sakshi Tanwar again, dealing with family issues (as if we haven’t had enough of that). Sigh…
In fact, Ram has more work on TV to deal with. He will be doing a cameo in new show that will mark his real-life wife Gautami Kapoor’s comeback to television. The stout actor is in more demand than SRK himself, no? There is no doubt that Ram is a terrific actor and everybody wants to work with him. But, hey, he doesn’t have to take on every other offer if he can’t give it the attention and time it needs, no? Wethinks it’s high time for Ram to make a choice between TV soaps and films. Since his role in Bade Acche has become more like a guest appearance, making a decision shouldn’t be too hard for him, never mind his saying over and over again that he can and will do both, right? He should actually take a cue from Sushant Singh Rajput, who gave up TV for films at a time when he was television’s top heartthrob. But we are totally loving SSR on the big screen, hai na?
Before his big pile of assignments starts affecting his acting, wethinks Ram needs to take a call on what’s more important – doing justice to a role or doing roles just for the sake of working to make up for the couple of years he had nothing to do! We don’t want bade acche lagte hain to turn into ab acche nahi lagte, Mr Kapoor!
