The Barfi! actor collaborates with the Gangs of Wasseypur director to produce his first movie
It’s no hidden truth that since his entry into B-town, Ranbir Kapoor has been dreaming of re-launching his paternal dada Raj Kapoor’s prestigious production house, RK Films. There was news back then that the Kapoor lad had also found a perfect script to bring back the glory to his family banner. But then the actor didn’t really take it forward for reasons best known to him.
Now, it comes as a pleasant surprise that Bollywood’s young heartthrob has decided to co-produce Anurag Kashyap’s most ambitious project Bombay Velvet, which is helmed by Phantom Productions. On this collaboration with Anurag’s production house, Ranbir said, “This seems to be the perfect time in my career to take up bigger ownership of a film and be a producer. The Phantom team is a pioneer as far as innovative content is concerned.”
Apparently, during one of the script reading sessions, Ranbir was asked if he would like to play a bigger role in Bombay Velvet and he readily agreed. However, it is not decided if Kapoor’s name will be featured in the film credits as a producer, or whether he will associate RK banner with the project. Yeh baat kuch hazam nahi hui, Ranbir!
Anyways, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to co-produce Bombay Velvet under the RK brand name, but our guess is that Ranbir is keener to revive his family production house with an ambitious full-fledged project. And if that’s the case, we might have to wait a little longer, since the Kapoor boy is super busy with his acting commitments through 2013.
