The Housefull director’s last film Himmatwala starring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah failed miserably at the box office. However, Farah Khan’s brother is back with yet another film and this time it’s his favourite genre – comedy. So will Humshakals change Sajid’s box office status? Read on to know…
Sajid Khan’s latest directorial venture Humshakals is out-an-out a comedy which stars Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Esha Gupta, Bipasha Basu and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. Considering comedy is Sajid’s forte wethinks this multi-starrer has good chances of getting cash registers ringing. Well, that’s something the talented filmmaker must be hoping as well coz his last film Himmatwala was a big dud and he sure needs a hit under his belt more than ever. Going by the promos and songs, Humshakals does seem like a crazy laugh riot. Also, there is Saifu and Riteish in the film and we all know they both are good with comedy. And adding the much needed glam quotient in this comic caper are three B-town beauties – Esha, Bips and Tamannaah. But the question is – will Sajid Khan’s new film manage to impress the audience? Will Humshakals face the same fate as Housefull and Housefull 2 did at the box office?
Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi says, “Humshakals is a bit of a gamble for its investors because of various factors. Besides the fact that Sajid Khan is making his comeback after Himmatwala, the film’s cast is top lined by Saif Ali Khan who is essentially a star in the metros / multiplexes, while the genre of the film – slapstick comedy traditionally caters to the single screen audience! All that apart, the genre and zone that the film falls bang into Sajid Khan’s domain and he is certainly among the better film makers we have to helm a slapstick comedy film. While the ensemble cast makes the film exciting, the music pulls it down a wee bit with not a single runaway chartbuster as a part of the OST.”
If Humshakals stays true to its genre then we are sure it will fare well at the ticket windows. But for now, let’s not predict much and wait for the Friday!
