Will Sonakshi Sinha shun Bollywood awards like Aamir Khan?

The Rowdy Rathore heroine is angry!

Sonakshi Sinha was visibly upset with the organisers of the 20th Annual Screen Awards. If the Screen Awards nomination list left us shocked, it has angered the team of Lootera even more. What is supposed to be an unbiased annual ceremony that applauds Bollywood’s talent seemed like a rigged show. Shotgun’s daughter wasn’t one to mince words when she expressed her dismay on her Twitter page.

Sonakshi Sinha walked into the year’s first award ceremony this week in a nude and silver Amit GT gown and this babe looked splendid. She made jaws drop just the way she did with her performance in Vikramaditya Motwane. While her co-star had more reason to frown than smile, as Ranveer Singh who delivered two noteworthy performances and played distinct roles didn’t even find a mention in the Best actor award category. If this wasn’t a shocker, then Sona missed the best actor (female) award to Deepika Padukone.

The Dabangg babe was not the one to take any of this lying down and shot back at the organisers. Sonakshi tweeted, “Disheartening how Lootera has been held back from most of the nominations this year! Didn’t they call it a masterpiece/poetry in motion/world class/technically superior film when it released? That seems like qualification enough to be out there. Not nominating Vikram Motwane for best director, Ranveer for acting, Amit Trivedi for music, Shetty for cinematography, Aditya for art, Subarna for costume, Amitabh for lyrics makes my nomination feel so out of place! Vikram Motwane, you will and always be best director for me! Ranveer, Amit Trivedi, Shetty, Aditya, Subarna, Amitabh Bhattacharya and everyone associated with this very special film will Always be proud of Lootera whether or not they acknowledge us :)

Well, we wonder now that Ms Sinha has voiced her opinions loud and clear will she also make an exit from award shows like Aamir Khan? BollywoodLifers, do you agree with the dashing Lootera babe? Are Bollywood awards rigged?Subscribe to me on YouTube

I’m not a fan of Sonakshi Sinha, but only liked her performance in Lootera. Obviously, I don’t expect anything from awards season regarding her performance, seems like Sonakshi doesn’t either. After all, awards are about who’s popular and Deepika happened to be the IT girl this year, despite putting up mediocre performances. What’s so different about Bhansali’s actress’, if Aishwarya won awards for his movies, then Deepika is bound to win awards. Also, if Deepika wins for Chennai Express, then why Ajay Devgn didn’t win any awards for his Rohit Shetty comedies. I think Lootera snub is just due to the movie not being a commercial success, it was the best romance movie and better than Ram-Leela which is the same old Bhansali’s take on Romeo Juliet and the masala entertainer CE and KJO’s movie. But the latter movies were more successful and talk of the town. If Lootera did a business like Kahaani, then it would have def. been in the running for all the awards. Too bad, it was released in a year when Bhansali made his “comeback”, and the record breaking movies were the headlines. Obviously, Bhansali and Ram-Leela will get recognized, since he’s a much revered director who got a bigger reception with Ram Leela in the same way HDDCS and Devdas did when they released. For Filmfare, I wonder if Raanjhana,YDHJ,Ram-Leela got multiple nominations, even CE got multiple noms. I fail to see why Lootera didn’t get nominated, at least for the director and writer.

It’s so odd that Sonakshi was the only one nominated in the major categories for Lootera. Filmfare nominated Lootera’s music director, lyricist, and singers. Still it seems incomplete without Lootera getting a Best Picture/Director/Writer nominations. Never expected Sonakshi to bring this up, but when the nominations came out for FIlmare and Screen, I thought it was funny that Lootera’s only nomination was Sonakshi. The movie was was highly praised when it was released, what happened. What’s more surprising is Madras Cafe’s absence in the Filmfare nominations. Seriously, last year was an improvement as far as the awards are concerned. Majority of good movies got awards or at least multiple nominations. This year, the good movies Kai Po Che, Special 26,Madras Cafe,Lootera,Luncbox,Shahid are out of the running for Filmfare awards which is the most prestigious out of all the other awards. Obviously, the most successful films which made headlines will win the awards, but if the most critically acclaimed movies got nominations, it’ll be better. But that’s not the case

The biggest joke seen today..star guild awards has dhoom 3 as nomination for best film!! And yes no mention of lootera!
I cannot judge for other categories but giving award for background score to anyone else but lootera is the saddest thing. Never in any film have I heard such enchanting score yet!! Awards are nothing if the film you see stays in your heart forever and lootera has achieved that for me.
