Will Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit Nene’s loss be Shefali Shah’s gain?

When offered to play the role of Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra mother, the two superstars got uncomfortable. Finally, Shefali Shah was roped in to play the interesting character

Sridevi played a distraught mother of two tots in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish, but when offered the role of a Punjabi mom to onscreen siblings – Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in a movie titled Dil Dhadakne Do- the veteran turned uncomfortable. Madhuri Dixit Nene too was offered the same role but even the dhak-dhak babe turned it down politely. Looks like the yesteryear divas don’t want to age at all and are still longing for the characters that project them in a glamorous way. What is even more interesting is that the film is spearheaded by Zoya Akhtar –the lady has two successful ventures under her belt: Luck By Chance and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and yet Sri and Mads are not keen to play roles that suit their age.

So Shefali Shah, who is younger than Madhuri and Sri, has taken up the challenge to play a feisty Punjabi lady. Shah has earlier played mother to Akshay Kumar, who is older than her, in her filmmaker husband Vipul Shah’s Waqt — The Race Against Time.

We are sure the talented actor will do justice to the character, don’t you agree?Subscribe to me on YouTube
