Will Varun Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero suffer at the box office because of the ongoing T20 World Cup? Trade buzz!

This week David Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero starring his son Varun will hit the theatres. While last Friday Dishkiyaoon, O Teri and Youngistaan failed to create any impact at the box office, will MTH set the cash registers ringing? Will this father-son duo taste success with their first collaboration? Read on to know…

Varun Dhawan, Ileana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri starrer Main Tera Hero has created great buzz amongst the masses thanks to its peppy music and entertaining trailer. Not to forget, Jr Dhawan’s Barfi! act and Anupam Kher taking a dig at Katrina Kaif’s Hindi in one of the dialogue promos only helped MTH grab more eyeballs. In fact, Ekta Kapoor’s production venture has remained in the news forever it seems coz of all the spoofs that the makers have incorporated in this romantic comedy. But will this ensure box office success for Main Tera Hero? Will Varun succeed in charming the audience with his second film just like his contemporary and good friends Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra did with theirs? Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi says, “Main Tera Hero almost looks like a sure-fire winner at the box office! David Dhawan’s sense of comic screenplay, Rohit Dhawan’s sense of visualisation and Varun Dhawan’s effortless on screen charm add up to consort a deadly mix that should make the audience have a blast at the cinemas! While Sidharth and Alia’s second films were in a space that was not hardcore commercial and mainstream, Varun Dhawan has stepped into a zone that cuts across the space that Salman Khan and Govinda have dominated for years and it doesn’t get more blatantly entertaining than that! With the music also proving to be popular and catchy, I’d be surprised if this film doesn’t make waves at the box office.”

So overall, David Dhawan’s film looks to fare well at the box office. However, Main Tera Hero may not witness an earth shattering opening at the ticket windows coz of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Considering cricket is nothing less than a religion in India, wethinks it could play a spoilsport for Varun’s comic flick. Even Rathi feels the same and points out, “The only speed breaker on the horizon is the glorious run team India is having in the T 20 world cup, but that doesn’t take more than a few hours on certain days.”

Well, the stage is set for Varun Dhawan to prove his mettle as an actor. But will he outdo Govinda and Salman and become the next comedy king? We’ll have to wait and watch!
