If all doesn’t go well the Bhatts may fall back on their star hero for the remake of the musical
Rumour has it that the nation-wide hunt for fresh faces for the lead pair of the modern day adaptation of Mahesh Bhatt’s 1990s romantic musical, Aashiqui, isn’t panning out as the Bhatt campers expected. They hope to start shooting for the remake by the end of 2012. So, if the search for new actors goes on the way it has been going so far then, Mohit Suri, the director who will lead the team for Aashiqui 2, will rope in Emraan Hashmi.
Jannat 2’s smashing box office collection has once again proved that the serial kisser with his sizzling smooches and melodious melodies has created an unshakable fan following among the masses. And that makes him a profitable choice of actor for filmmakers. So why not!
When Mahesh Bhatt was asked to comment on the latest chinwag, he confirmed the report. In an interview, the filmmaker who directed Aashiqui said, “If we do not find a fresh face on time, we will approach Emraan Hashmi.” But he maintained that the Jannat 2 actor is to yet read the script. So it’s untrue that the Bhatt camps favourite actor is finalised for the lead actor’s part in the musical.
While we think it would be interesting to watch Emraan play a lovelorn lover like Rahul Roy did in the original, what do you think?
