The Punjabi rapper turns 31 today
Born on March 15, 1984, Yo Yo Honey Singh’s real name is Hridesh Singh who studied music at the Trinity School in the United Kingdom. Before making it big as a rapper, Honey Singh was a recording artist and then a bhangra producer. But things really changed for Singh in 2011 when his song Lak 28 kudi da in collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh reached No 1 in BBC Asian Download Charts. In the following year the rapper got noticed in Bollywood when his song Angreji beat from his album International Villager featured in Saif Ali Khan starrer Cocktail. However, he became a singing sensation overnight with his song Lungi dance featuring B-town superstar Shahrukh Khan and the very gorgeous Deepika Padukone. The song was a tribute to South superstar Rajinikanth which also made Honey Singh a superstar in the music industry. Apparently, HS is also the highest paid music artist ever in B-town. Now that’s a big accomplishment in a very short span of time, hai na? His recently released song Chaar bottle vodka with Sunny Leone has already became a rage amongst the masses. Next, Honey Singh will be crooning for Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor as well. The Yo Yo Honey Singh fever is certainly growing stronger and isn’t going to fade away any time soon for sure.
The Lungi dance singer has already cemented his place in Bollywood. So much so that every filmmaker wants to incorporate a special Yo Yo Honey Singh number in their films. That speaks volumes about the rise of this Punjabi rapper in filmdom, no? With directors queuing up and A-list actors dying to groove with him, wethinks the journey to stardom has just begun for Honey Singh. So here’s wishing the dumdaar signer a very toodu happy birthday. We are sure he’ll be partying all night. Wink Wink!
