Now, Rutgers University offers course on Beyonce
Beyonce Knowles fans can enjoy some fun filled learning session on their favourite artist. Rutgers University has started a course on Beyonce. The students at the New Brunswick campus will be able to attend Politicizing Beyonce, which is led by doctoral student and lecturer Kevin Allred in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, the New York Post reported.
According to Allred, the class isn’t specifically about the Single Ladies hitmaker’s career or political engagement, but instead it focuses on gender, sexuality and racial politics through the lens of Beyonce’s standing in American pop culture. The class will analyse Beyonce’s videos and lyrics, in addition to readings from black feminists. Rutgers University also has a class on the theology of Bruce Springsteen’s lyrics.
