Marathi channel gears up for an epic rendition of Sant Tukaram

Sundar te dhyaan ubhe vitevari, kar katavari thevuniya… the mere utterance of these words reminds you of saint Tukaram worshiping Lord Vitthala. A popular Marathi channel is all set to unveil its new period drama Tu Mazha Saangati that will bring alive the story of the charismatic Varkari Saint through the perspective of his wife Awli. The show traces the life of Sant Tukaram as he transforms from a sahukaar to a spiritual and a revered saint.

The lead protagonist of the show Chinmay Mandelekar, known for his versatility talks about his role, and says, “I feel privileged that I was chosen for this role. I will be looking forward to the response I get from this show as the audience has never seen me in such a role earlier.”

The life of young Awli, the spirited wife of Sant Tukaram, her hardships and how she supported him in his journey to achieve greatness has been beautifully depicted. Mrunmayee Supal, the girl playing Awli in the sequel says, “I was a scared when I was told I have to enact the role of Awli, but then Chinmay dada made me feel at ease.”
