Karni Sena attacked the Zee media office in Jaipur on Monday. The protestors who were armed with weapons and daggers destroyed the property and the valuables in the office premises. Reportedly, though the police was present there, they did not do much to control the situation and instead just watched as violence took place. This is not the first time that the group has voiced their displeasure over the content of Jodha Akbar that is aired on Zee TV.

Jodha Akbar is a drama about the political wedding between the Mughal emperor Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha bai. The show revolves around how things change between Akbar and Jodha after they fall for each other which in turn changes the fate of the country. The members of Karni Sena are miffed with Ekta’s “non-materialising promises” of taking her controversial serial off the air, have decided to launch a nationwide protest against her.

Lokendra Singh Kalvi, the head of Karni Sena called a press conference on Monday afternoon, and said, “We’ve been continuously requesting them to make certain changes in the serial. Despite several promises by Ekta Kapoor, no changes have been made. So we have decided to not let any of Balaji’s films be released in the state.” A group of 40-odd volunteers of the Sena participated in a protest march to the channel’s office in Jaipur, and also pasted a banner outside it, which they said was “written in blood”.
