The television actor-turned-politician feels Amethi will script history this year
Rahul Gandhi, who is seeking re-election for a third consecutive term from Amethi constituency, had filed his nomination papers on April 12 and expressed confidence of registering a “good victory”. Vishwas filed his papers yesterday. The AAP leader came to Amethi in January, vowing to defeat Rahul.
Dressed in a sari and surrounded by slogan shouting supporters, Smriti Irani said, “This democracy in not bound to any family.” She said the constituency has been “deprived of development” for the past six decades though members of Nehru-Gandhi fanily have represented it.
Irani said BJP has sent her to contest against Rahul Gandhi as he “tries to encash on the youth factor and does not deliver on the promises.”
