Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor is an Indian actress and a former model. She is the daughter of Indian film actor Anil Kapoor. Sonam is perhaps internationally best known as a spoke person for the French beauty brand L’oréal. She endorses the brand in India and represents the brand at the Cannes Film Festival along with Aishwarya Rai and Freida Pinto. She made her Bollywood debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Her noteworthy films are Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Aisha and Khoobsurat.

Zhang Yimou

Zhang Yimou is a Chinese film director, producer, writer and actor, and former cinematographer. He made his directorial debut with Red Sorghum in 1987. The movie earned positive reviews and even won the Golden Bear for Best Picture at the 38th Berlin International Film Festival in 1988.Some of his other films include Ju Dou (1990), Raise the Red Lantern (1991), , The Story of Qiu Ju (1992), To Live (1994), Not One Less (1999), Hero, House of Flying and Coming Home. Raise the Red Lantern was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 1992 Academy Awards, becoming the second Chinese film to earn this distinction. The Story of Qui Ju won the Golden Lion award at the 1992 Venice Film Festival. The movie To Live released at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize, as well as earning a Best Actor prize for Ge You.

Jean Dujardin

Jean Dujardin started off his career as a stand-up comedian in Paris, before he started appearing in comedy shows and movies. His most prominent role that cemented his fame in the international world was that of George Valentin in the 2011 silent movie, The Artist. This role won him many awards, inclusive of the Academy Award for Best Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor- Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role and the Cannes Film Festival Best Actor. He has also appeared in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and George Clooney’s 2014 historical drama The Monuments Men.

Werner Herzog

German film director, producer, screenwriter, author, actor and opera director Werner Herzog is considered one of the most prominent figures of New German cinema. His more recent films include Invincible (2001), The Wild Blue Yonder (2005), Rescue Dawn (2007), The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009), My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? (2009), and Queen of the Desert (2015). What sets his movies apart is that he gives his characters impossible dreams and imparts unique talents to them. His work has earned him international acclaim and brought much fame and accolades his way. Some of the awards that have been bestowed on him include Silver Bear Extraordinary Prize of the Jury for his first feature film Signs of Life; his movie The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser won The Special Jury Prize (also known as the ‘Silver Palm’) at the Cannes Festival; the Bavarian Film Award for Best Producing for the film Cobra Verde, among others.

Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel is an American actor and producer who is known for his deep baritone voice, killer physique and his status as an action hero (thanks to the success of films such as XXX and The Fast and The Furious franchise). Diesel made his film debut with a brief un-credited role in Awakenings (1990). He went on to write, direct, produce as well as act in a short film titled Multi-Facial in 1994 and it was selected for screening at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival. His next venture was Strays (1997), his first full-length feature film and the film got selected for competition at the 1997 Sundance Festival. His first break as an actor was in Steven Spielberg’s 1998 Oscar-winning film Saving Private Ryan. He was also part of the business drama Boiler Room. Then the sci-fi action film Pitch Black happened in 2000, followed by The Fast and the Furious in 2001 and XXX in 2002. These movies did it for Diesel and he was established as an action hero. He has also acted in movies such as The Pacifier, The Last Witch Hunter, Find Me Guilty and Babylon AD. He has also worked as a voice over artist for The Iron Giant (1999).

Martin Scorsese

Martin Charles Scorsese is a famous American director, screenwriter, actor, producer and film historian. He is a widely recognized as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinema history. Scorsese founded the The Film Foundation in 1990 and the World Cinema Foundation in 2007. He has received multiple awards including the AFI Life Achievement Award, Academy Award, a Palme d’Or, Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, Silver Lion, Grammy Award, Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and DGA Awards. He is known for directing movies such as Mean Streets (1973), Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974), Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980), The King of Comedy (1983), Goodfellas (1990) and The Departed (2006). Scorsese has been married five times and has three daughters.
