Ajith turns down payment for cameo in Sridevi’s ‘English Vinglish’
The Tamil version of English Vinglish to star Thala Ajith, while the Hindi version will see Amitabh Bachchan doing a cameo
Ajith has refused any remuneration for his cameo in Sridevi’s much-awaited comeback flick English Vinglish. What’s more, the Thala flew in for the shooting at his own cost. Sources close to the unit tell us that producer R Balki repeatedly requested Ajith that he would at least bear the flight ticket and hotel stay. But Ajith declined politely and firmly, leaving everyone impressed with his gesture.
They add that Balki, his wife director Gauri Shinde, Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor are all praise for Ajith. “They’ve been bowled over by the simplicity and friendliness of an actor of his stature,” sources say. English Vinglish is the story of a woman who does not know English and is made to feel insecure by her family and society at large.
