With the first look of Thalaiva‘s film out tomorrow, Bollywoodlife decided to compile all the facts and rumours surrounding KS Ravikumar’s magnum opus
This Ganesh Chaturthi is going to be special for superstar Rajinikanth’s fans. With the first look of Rajinikanth-Sonakshi Sinha-Anushka Shetty starrer Lingaa being unveiled tomorrow, the fan frenzy around the film is slowly starting to build. While there have been lots of gossips and tit-bits flying from the sets of Lingaa, we decided to put together all rumours and speculations under one roof, as we present you what Rajinikanth’s Lingaa is all about.
Lingaa, helmed by ace director KS Ravikumar boasts a star studded cast of Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Shetty, Santhanam, Vijaykumar, Radharavi and Karunakaran. The movie is produced by Rockline Venkatesh and the music is composed by double Oscar winner AR Rahman.
The movie got its title from name of Rajinikanth’s grandson and Dhanush’s son, Lingaa.
It was rumoured that ace comedian Vadivelu would be working together with Kochadaiiyaan star, ending the rift between the two actors.
Thalaiva is rumoured to play double role in the film – one is a freedom fighter where as other is a chief engineer of a dam.
The makers roped in British actress Lauren Irwin to be cast opposite Rajini for the pre-independence portions of the film.
A little birdie tells us that Thalaiva will be performing a gravity defying diamond heist in the film.
The story of Lingaa is said to be revolving around the controversial Mullaiperiyar dam and Rajini is supposed to be playing the chief engineer of the dam.
Sonakshi Sinha gathered a lot of attention while shooting in Mysore, so much so that the makers had arranged nearly 100 bodyguards to keep the crazy fans from intruding the sets.
A source revealed that film’s climax would be shot at Shimoga where a giant statue of Lord Shiva would be erected along with sets of the dam.
Lingaa is slated to release on Kochadaiiyaan star’s birthday on December 12, 2014.
The superstar even celebrated his 40 years in cinema with Sonakshi and the crew at the sets of Lingaa recently.
KS Ravikumar has roped Hollywood stunt director Lee Whittaker to choreograph the high octane action sequences.
