Only onscreen though even the actor is happy with that. For now
The bad man-turned-good Samaritan of Sandalwood always dreamt of making it big in politics. Though the star MP Ambareesh has a large fan following in his native Mandya region, the rest of the state is far from ready to accept him as their chief minister. So, when the rebel star got a chance to portray the role of his state’s chief, he jumped at the opportunity and signed on the dotted line. For his next film Swayamkrishi, Ambarish portrays not one but two ministerial roles – that of a union minister and thereafter as Chief Minister of Karnataka. The movie has him guiding the hero to achieve his goals. Most of the star’s scenes were completed last week at Mysore. The actor thanked director Veerendra Babu for the role and said that it was indeed a great feeling to play the chief minister. The movie will release in August once the rest of the cast finish shooting their parts.
