Bhagyaraj accuses Santhanam of lifting Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya story

Veteran actor-director K Bhagyaraj has filed a case against the actor

Only recently the assistant director leveled charges that Santhanam’s maiden production venture, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya (KLTA ), was based on a script penned by him and now K Bhagyaraj has the same complain.

In his complaint to Chennai city Police Commissioner S George, a copy of which was released to the media, Bhagyaraj said that KLTA was based on his 1981 blockbuster Indru Poi Naalai Vaa. “Producer-director Ramanarayanan (who has co-produced KLTA in association with Santhanam) approached me with the idea to remake Indru Poi Naalai Vaa. Since I refused to entertain his idea, he went ahead and remade the movie without my permission,” said Bhagyaraj.

Stating that Santhanam and Manikandan (the director of KLTA) have said in recent media interviews that KLTA was based on Indru Poi Naalai Vaa, Bhagyaraj requested the police to take necessary action, since he owned the copyright for the story. Let’s hope the makers resolve the issue soon.
