The Telugu actor-turned-politician turns a year older
Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi was born on August 22, 1965. The actor-politician’s recent change in stance on the Telangana issue has earned him more than a few opponents and is even threatening to derail son Ram Charan Teja’s Bollywood debut Zanjeer.
The Congressman and Minister of State for Tourism has, in recent years, eased out of Tollywood and concentrated on his political career. He can, however, look back at a career filled with achievements. It earned him the title of megastar and a huge fan following.
Starting in the late eighties, Chiranjeevi starred in such acclaimed films as Rudraveena and Muta Mesthri. He has had a few misses, but has always come back with good films. In early 2000 he had the super hit Annayya and then went on to act in films like Tagore and Shankardada MBBS. In 2009, he made a guest appearance in son Ram Charan’s mega hit Magadheera. In 2011, Chiru won the lifetime achievement award.
