The talented musician who has made his mark in Tamil cinema turns 27 today
Born on June 13,1987 in the household of AR Rahman’s elder sister, GV Prakash had music soaked in his veins. His mother AR Reihana was a playback singer and AR Rahman is his uncle. GV Prakash also known as GV or GVP made his debut as music director at a tender age of 19 with Vasanthabalan’s 2006 flick Veyil and since then has never looked back.
But even before his debut as composer, he was credited as a vocalist on the soundtrack of Shankar’s Gentleman in 1993. He also assisted music director Harris Jayaraj in films like Anniyan and Unnale Unnale. GV Prakash had a difficult time in graduating from vocalist to music composer as the movies which the young lad had signed failed to take off not once not twice but thrice. But his debut album gave him a lot of attention and many punters put their money on GVP to succeed big time.
After his dream debut, GVP churned out hit albums every year like Dhanush’s Polladhavan in 2007, Angadi Theru in 2009, Madrasapattinam and Aadukalam in 2010, Deiva Thirumagal and Mayakkam Enna in 2011. He is widely appreciated in the industry for experimenting with his craft just like his uncle Mozart of Madras AR Rahman did.
GV Prakash seems to be treading Rahaman’s footsteps as we hear the talented musician has bagged a Bollywood film after impressing everyone with his background score in Anurag Kashyap’s crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur. GV Prakash had such a profound effect on Anurag Kashyap that the filmmaker roped our birthday boy for his much awaited Ugly.
The 27-year old is all set to make his acting debut with Tamil film Pencil and has already signed an another movie Trisha Illana Nayantara. Looks like GV Prakash is not content with just scoring music and is on a path of exploration in the cine world. Bollywoodlife wishes GVP a very happy birthday and hope he continues to enthrall us with his acting skills just like his musical endeavors .
