Karthi plays ‘Saguni’ politics

The actor’s upcoming film Saguni will be his first political thriller directed by Shankar Dayal

Suriya’s younger brother Karthi seems to have realised that the ultimate reach is for politics. Having done comedy, thrillers and potboilers, it is time for some power play, Karthi seems to think. The actor’s next venture Saguni, directed by debutant Shankar Dayal, would be the actor’s first political thriller. And our man will be a ‘power broker’. “Karthi is playing an interesting character in Saguni that is inspired by mythological character of Saguni from the epic Mahabharata,” says the director. Pranitha of Udhayan fame will be the female lead and Radhika Sarathkumar will be seen on the big screen again, after a long time. “Lord Krishna is known for his clever ways to help the Pandavas win against Kauravas. So was Saguni, who tried his best to help Duryodhana and his men. Karthi’s role in Saguni is filled with such clever acts. But it has no negative shades,” adds Dayal. The film, with assured spicy political ingredients, will also star Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Roja and Nasser in key roles.
