Mammootty wins Best Actor award for ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’

JC Daniel Foundation awards him for his portrayal of a rice merchant

Mammootty is on an award harvest, it seems. A fourth National Award may have eluded him, but the megastar of Mollywood is still riding on a high. He has now been adjudged the best actor of 2010, by the JC Daniel Foundation. He won the award for his portrayal of an uneducated but kind-hearted Christian rice merchant in Ranjith’s Pranchiyettan And The Saint. Female actor Navya Nair won the Best Actress award for her performance in Yugapurushan. Pokkiri Raja, starring Mammootty and Prithviraj, was adjudged the Popular Film of the year while Lal Jose bagged the Best Director award for Elsamma Enna Aankutty. Here’s the full list of winners:
