South Indian actor Mamta Mohandas turns 27 on Children’s Day

Mamta Mohandas was born on November 14, 1985. The actor and playback singer is sitting pretty, as she celebrates her 27th birthday today. For one thing, she’s had a line-up of big releases this year and has several current projects as well, especially in Malayalam. Her Tamil film Thadaiyara Thaakka also released this year. What’s more, she’s looking forward to her first wedding anniversary at the end of December!

While many of Mollywood’s talented actors have chosen to bid goodbye to films after marriage, Mamta continues to work. She’s currently busy with films such as Musafir, My Boss and Celluloid in Malayalam, with Mathilukalkappuram to follow.

The feisty girl, who fought Hodgkin’s lymphoma some years ago, has certainly carved a place for herself in the competitive business of South Indian cinema. After her stint as a model, she made her debut in the Malayalam flick Mayookham in 2005 and followed that up with Bus Conductor in which she starred opposite Mammootty. She teamed up with the top actor again to deliver the blockbuster Big B. Mamta has also acted with the other big names of Malayalam cinema such as Mohanlal and Jayaram.

After that, she made her entry into Telugu films with a role in Rajamouli’s Yamadonga. Mamta, who is trained in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music, sang two songs in the film. She’s been playback singer in several of her Telugu films. Her other Telugu movies as actor include King with Nagarjuna and Homam, among others.

Mamta’s Tamil films include Guru En Aalu, opposite Madhavan, Sivappathigaram and this year’s Thadaiyara Thaakka. With more films and singing assignments in hand, this talented artiste is set to be busy in her new year. Here’s wishing Mamta a very happy birthday!
