It’s the just the latest in a long list of remakes
Priyadarshan is famous for some of his remakes. And notorious for certain others. Over the past few years, he has remade several south indian films into Hindi – Vettam as De Dana Dan, Godfather as Hulchul, Kadha Parayumbol as Billu, Mannar Mathai Speaking as Bhaagam Bhaag – being just a few. The buzz now is that Priyan is planning to remake the latest Mollywood hit, Salt N Pepper for a Bollywood audience.
There are reports that the director is seeking to buy the rights for the film directed by Aashiq Abu, which had Lal, Asif Ali, Shweta Menon, Mythili, Baburaj and Vijayaraghavan in the lead roles. The romantic comedy tracks the lives of two couples with the ‘food’ theme becoming the bonding factor. Reports suggest that Priyan will start working on the Salt N Pepper remake once his ongoing projects are over. He is now in UAE, busy with the shooting of Mohanlal starrer, Arabiyum Ottakavum Pinne Madhavan Nayarum. Salt N Pepper had an interesting tagline – Oru Dosa Undakkiya Katha (The story of the making of a dosa). It remains to be seen if Priyan sticks to the dosa or shifts to vada pav or a parantha in the Hindi version.
