Rajinikanth asks government to withdraw entertainment tax

The Union government has introduced an new entertainment tax on actors and technicians

Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday urged the Union government to withdraw its proposal to introduce the tax along with other actors.Speaking at the protest organised jointly by various bodies of Tamil film industry in Chennai, he said the Centre’s move will only result in encouraging black money. “The proposal will affect the industry a lot. Hence I request the Centre to withdraw the tax,” the numero uno actor said, amid thunderous applause from industry peers.

Top actors, directors and technicians lent their support to the agitation. The whole of Kollywood was out on strike on Monday and there were no shootings, recordings and shows at cinema halls. The government has so far not responded to the request. Let us know what you think!
