Kamal and Rajinikanth grace the music launch of Vikram Prabhu’s Kumki

The Sivaji Ganesan family could well be the first family of Kollywood. So, when it’s the audio launch for the debut film of third generation actor Vikram Prabhu, it had to be a high-profile show.Vikram is the son of Prabhu and grandson of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan. Tamil cinema’s senior actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were seen together after a long hiatus at the audio launch of Kumki in Chennai on Thursday.

While Kamal had previously confirmed his presence, the arrival of Rajinikanth was quite unexpected. In his speech the Superstar said, “I had earlier told Prabhu I would not be able to make it to the function. That was on the advice of my doctors. I am not attending public functions as my immunity system still has to improve.” He then added, “But this morning I changed my mind; how could I say no to Prabhu. It’s a Sivaji family event and I just could not stay away.”

Kamal, who has made no secret of his admiration and respect for the late Sivaji Ganesan, said, “Prabhu is like a younger brother to me and so I am Vikram’s Periyappa (uncle).” He wished the debutant all the best as he released the audio of the film along with Rajini. Suriya, Karthi, Gautham Menon, Sathyaraj and other members of the Tamil film industry were also present to wish the team all the best.
