South actor Darshan’s bail application denied

Kannada actor Darshan Toogudeepa was arrested on September 9, for threatening his wife with a gun

Darshan’s bail application was reserved by the Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on Monday. The public prosecutor Amrut Kumar who objected the bail used Ms. Vijayalakshmi’s injuries as the argumentative point while Darshan’s lawyers argued stating that the case was filed in anger and tried to settle the matter out of court.

However, a murder attempt charge cannot be withdrawn once presented in court. Darshan is apparently also charged with other offences like criminal intimidation, assault and use of arms. Ms. Vijaylaksmi who had filed a complaint against her husband on September 8 of threatening her with a revolver changed her statement before the court of First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Venkatesh Hulagi stating that the injuries were caused due to a fall in the bathroom. Darshan who was arrested on September 9 has been kept in judicial custody ever since. However, the actor was soon shifted to the hospital at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases for suspected jaundice and asthma. Darshan’s doctor, Dr. Buggi said that the actor will mostly be retained at the hospital for two more days as he has just begun to intake normal food and the IV fluids and nasal oxygen was discontinued for time being. The doctor even stated that Darshan’s medical status added with the current stress, strain, emotional problems has aggravated his asthma.
