The Malayalam actor turns 54 today
Born on June 25, 1959, even as Suresh Gopi celebrates his birthday today, the talented actor is in the midst of working for Shankar’s upcoming mega venture, I.
The actor, who’s worked mainly in Malayalam cinema with significant forays into Kollywood, has nearly 200 films to his credit – proof of his skills and also his versatility. Best known for his action roles in a series of cop films, such as Commissioner, Thalastaanam and Ekalavyan, he has showcased his flair in a variety of genres.
Suresh Gopi has also carved a niche for himself in roles of substance in films like Manichitrathaazhu and Paithrukam. The 1997 film Kaliyaattam was a high point in his career and earned him the National Award for Best Actor.
As is to be expected in such a long and steady career, Suresh Gopi has seen both success and failure, but he has kept at his art. His recent hits have been Christian Brothers and Melvilasom. He is also the host of the Malayalam version of Kaun Banega Crorepati, further establishing his status in the industry.
