The 7aam Arivu actor has reportedly agreed to enter television with the quiz show starting on the fest of Pongal
His last release may not have pleased critics, but that hasn’t deterred Suriya from trying something new. We hear that the actor has agreed to host the Tamil version of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati?. Titled Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi (You too can win one crore), the show will air on Vijay TV. Since Suriya has a packed work schedule, he has to balance both his films and the new venture. The actor will shoot only for six days in a month for NVOK and the show will air only on weekends. The actor has been undergoing special training in deportment for it. A huge set resembling the KBC one is being erected in Chennai. Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi is expected to air in January starting on Pongal. Vijay TV will soon start displaying questions for viewers interested to play the game. Will Suriya do justice to the host’s role? We don’t know, but wethink it was a good move for him to sign NVOK as his first television show. This way he will reach more fans without sullying his image. His popularity is bound to soar with NVOK drawing more audiences for his forthcoming films. We’ve already seen it happen to KBC’s host Amitabh Bachchan, with the show giving the ageing superstar a fresh lease of life. Sourav Ganguly and Shatrughan Sinha reclaimed their fans with the Bengali and Bhojpuri versions of KBC. Hopefully, the KBC luck will favour Suriya too.
