It was the glitzy Audi Ritz Icon Awards ceremony in Chennai on Saturday
Winners of the awards were from various spheres – classical music, to fashion design, science, art and social work. Kolaveri di composer Anirudh Ravichander won an award award for connecting music with masses. South Indian film stars were among the winners, too. The list included Ramya aka Divya Spandana, Rima Kallingal, Mammootty’s son Dulqar Salman, Tapsee Pannu, Trisha and Rana Dagubatti (yes, they were together). Prabhu Deva was named South Icon of the year and he pleased the crowd with some of his nifty dance moves.
What got our attention was what the tinsel town ladies turned up in. Here’s our take:
# Tapsee Pannu got it just right, choosing a long white, layered dress. The long sleeves and feminine neckline worked beautifully. She kept her accessories to a minimum, sporting an attractive cocktail ring. We like.
# Trisha Krishnan kept it sweet and simple with her short, off-white dress. The flounces added a nice touch and she wore her outfit well as she does most of her clothes. We’ve seen her look better, but this wasn’t bad either.
# While white and pastel seemed to be the colour of choice for the evening, Divya Spandana aka Ramya went in for a deep, sparkly purple. The gal has lost weight and showed off her legs. About the space-outfit shoulder of the dress, we are not so sure.
# We are unsure about what drove Rima Kallingal to pick this unflattering outfit either. If she was aiming for ethnic and flowing it just didn’t work. Too loose and dowdy is what we thought.
# Speaking of dowdy, whatever happened to the once-glam Simran. Bad trousers, white jacket, dull t-shirt and the worst hair. In fact, we note Simran’s turning up in this same look at even wedding functions. C’Mon, you can do better babe.
