The actor is the nephew of Sasikala, aide of TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa
When actor TTV Bhaskaran organised a big bash for the audio launch of his film Thalaivan last month, he wouldn’t have expected to be in trouble with the law soon after.
On Tuesday a Central Crime Branch team arrested Bhaskaran alias Bas, nephew of Sasikala, the infamous aide of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. He was arrested in connection with a case of cheating a Cuddalore-based woman of Rs 3 lakh in 2003. Bhaskaran had promised her a government teaching job.
The woman who had been cheated had lodged a complaint in 2006, but was threatened by Bhaskaran and his accomplices. She did not pursue the complaint further until her uncle came to know of it and brought it up with Bhaskaran last week. When he was also threatened, he took the matter to the police and Bhaskaran was arrested by the CCB.
Earlier MD of JJTV, Bhaskaran made a late entry into films and plays the lead in Thalaivan, the audio of which was released recently. It was a show of strength with some 1,000 people being transported in buses to the venue, waving banners proclaiming Bas as their leader.
