Kollywood audiences have a movie treat for themselves in Diwali 2012. Click to know the important movies releasing on November 13

It’s not a cliché. There’s going to be a cracker of a contest at the Kollywood box office this Deepavali. Here’s a sneak peek into the three films that will add to the festive spirit for moviegoers, come November 13. Take a look…

Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, Thuppakki features Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. The story of the film revolves around a youngster from a Mumbai-based Tamil family. The happy-go-lucky man’s life undergoes a sudden turn. The decisions he takes after that make up the rest of the story. The film is produced by S Thanu and features music by Harris Jayaraj with cinematography handled by Santosh Sivan. Thupakki will also mark Vijay’s arrival in Tollywood, as it is being dubbed and released simultaneously in Telugu.

This STR-starrer is written and directed by debutant Vignesh Shivan and features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar as the leading lady. Music for the film is composed by Dharan Kumar, while cinematography and editing are handled by Nirav Shah and Anthony Gonsalves, respectively. STR’s new look is one of the talking points of the movie and he’s appearing in three get-ups, apparently. For his look in Poda Podi, Silambarasan worked with Toni & Guy Salon and for the initial photo shoot in Mumbai, the producers had stylists from an international brand give him a new haircut and styling. The movie is billed as a rom-com and should go down very well with STR fans.

Popular villain Mansoor Ali Khan assumes the new avatar of a music director and lyricist with a movie titled Lollu Dada Parak Parak. Based on the Bollywood movie Gullu Dada Returns, the movie has Mansoor in the lead role as well. Shilpa has been cast opposite him. “I have basic music knowledge and hence thought I would take a shot at composing. I have also written all the songs in the movie, which have simple lyrics that would go with the flow of the film,” Mansoor claims. Lollu Dada Parak Parak was shot in Chennai, Ooty and Kodaikanal. “It is hilarious and every scene will make you smile,” added Mansoor.

The release of Neer Paravai was originally scheduled for Deepavali and then postponed to late November. Now, in a last-minute development, sources close to the film’s unit say it will release on November 13 after all. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, the film is directed by National Award-winner Seenu Ramasamy.

Ammavin Kaipesi too will hit the screens on the festival day, November 13. It is the comeback film of director Thangar Bachan. The movie stars Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Iniya.

So, which Tamil movie are you planning to watch this Diwali?

Note: Last minute changes may see one or two more films joining the list of Deepavali releases, or some of the above ones being rescheduled.
